The Skin I Live In (Pedro Almodovar, 2011)

This is one of the most disturbing recent films i’ve seen in a while. Almodovar did a brilliant job at creating a horror film with no scares or jumps, just beautiful visuals, a haunting score, and psychotic characters. I haven’t seen very many Antonio Banderas films and this was my first Pedro Almodovar but this convinced me to watch more. This film goes hand-in-hand with Eyes Without A Face, having a similar plastic surgery story. What makes The Skin I Live In stand on it’s own is the twists and turns in the narrative and how it all pays off in the end. This is a film that will be great to watch again knowing how everything turns out. 4/5
