Glee does for LGBT people what Lady Gaga does for LGBT people
Barely anything, but they’re more than happy to take all the credit
I hate the way that they commercialize LGBT. Lady Gaga and Glee are fine for giving confidence and hope to young gay teens but the constant push is what kills me. Lady Gaga became a spokes person for the community and pushed a lot of politicians and did a great job. I unfortuantely also feel she (or her marketing team) saw the way teens were reacting to her music and ran with it. I feel it’s reached the point that if you listen to her music you may be labeled as gay. I may be going crazy about this but I just feel this way. With Glee, I watched the first season and thought it was good but lost interest part way into the second. I still see clips and pictures of it on Tumblr and it just seems that they are over emphasizing gays. It appears that almost every character has had a gay moment/scene or has turned gay. I feel this sends a negative message because in my opinion, if you are gay you are and have always been that way. The show started with one gay character and all the rest heterosexual. The producers then brought on another gay student to fill the sexual frustration of the original gay character, all of that is fine. What I have a problem with is the fact that several straight characters who started out with straight sexual relationships all the sudden change and are now gay and scared and omg everything is so hard. This is just absurd and terrible writing.
that was my rant for the night.
sorry.
